Portugal is on the cusp of rapid e-commerce growth, with the number of online shoppers expected to grow from just over 5 million in 2016 to 7.7million in 2022. One of the companies helping drive this growth is Dott, ( www.dott.pt ) the only local ecommerce platform in Portugal which acts as a digital marketplace for more than 700 retailers and Portugal’s online shoppers. It also offers a host of services for retailers: from designing their online catalogue and product pages, through to selecting the images that appear on the website and managing the order distribution and delivery.
Launched in May 2019 through a Joint Venture by Portugal’s national postal service, CTT Portugal Post, and the global business and retail group Sonae, Dott has ambitious growth plans.
Dott is a “glocal” marketplace, thinking globally but acting locally. It is a marketplace made by Portuguese people, for Portuguese people, with clear advantages for the Buyer, such as strong proximity and convenience, with features such as free returns, a wide variety of products (over 2.2 million products already available) and deliveries up to 10pm. For the Sellers, Dott provides a frictionless approach, where there are no setup or maintenance fees, and even the sales commissions are competitive – all with the goal of making it a no brainer for the retailer.
