Austria

On 11 July 2019, Austrian Post AG issued the world’s first Blockchain stamp. The analogue meets the digital world in this innovative special issue block. For the first time ever, what seems to be a traditional product – the postage stamp – takes advantage of the highly complex Blockchain technology. The new 3.0 edition of the Crypto stamp makes it possible to reduce costs and make the crypto stamp more environmentally friendly by switching the contract from Ethereum to xDai.

The Crypto stamp is a unique and revolutionary product that bridges innovation with tradition. From the first release of Crypto stamp 1.0, which was a great success and gained worldwide recognition, Austrian Post has been constantly working on improvements to make the product more environmentally sustainable and cost efficient.

By introducing new technologies, such as NFC, together with a strategic shifting to an alternative sidechain “xDai”, the company is expanding its horizons.
